Connect Repair Code to Service Type

Explanation

This activity is used to connect the repair code to a service type. It is possible to record several repair codes for a part. The repair code is a way of grouping standard jobs for the repair order type work order or material and operations for the repair order type repair shop.

When using a service type with connected repair codes on a component repair order, a set of standard jobs or material and/or operations are predefined, assuming that work order or repair shop order is selected as the repair order type. A condition for this is that the corresponding setups are done for the standard jobs and for the repair code structure and/or routing.

Prerequisites

• The service type must have been connected to the repair part in the Part Service Definition and Pricing window.
• The repair code must have been created as basic data in the Basic Data for Repair Setup/Repair Code window.
• The repair code must have been connected to the repair part in Basic Data for Repair Setup/Repair Code Part window.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, a repair code is connected to a service type.

• If a work order is selected as the repair order type on the component repair order line, and if the inventory part number and the repair categories match with those of the part number on the component repair order line, and if the repair codes are connected to the service type, then the jobs get predefined in the Prepare Work Order/Jobs tab.
• If repair shop order is selected as the repair order type on the component repair order line, the material and operations are generated for the shop order according to the repair setup in the repair code structure and/or the repair code routing.

Procedure

1. Open the Part Service Definition and Pricing window and populate the window or query for the part number of the repair part.
2. Click the Service Types tab.
3. In the upper table, select the line with the service type to which you want to connect one or several repair codes.
4. In the lower table, create a new record.
5. Connect the repair codes that correspond to the service type, either by entering the code or by using the List of Values.
