[IFS/BA Designer Help Guide]

Apply Structure Repeaters

Explanation

This activity can be used to create structure reports based on structures in IFS Applications. A structure created in IFS Business Analytics always consists of nodes and leaves. A leaf is a code part connected for accounting structures and an activity defined in engineering projects. Levels can also be defined for a structure and used in the report design. However the use of levels are optional. IFS Business Analytics Structure report can be used to combine data from multiple structures.

When a structure repeater item is used as a repeater, the Structure Details will be enabled. You must define a structure ID and entry point details in the Structure Details dialog box. By using Criteria you can filter the information shown in the report. For example, specific nodes can be included or excluded using this option. There are also possibilities to define which leaves to include in the report; all leaves, leaves attached to the current level or leaves attached to the levels below. Report parameters for nodes or levels can be used to define the entry point.

Prerequisites

To create a structure report select an information source with structure repeater items. There should be a structure defined in IFS Applications in the format of the report designed.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, executed report will display information using IFS Applications defined structure in the format of the report designed.

Procedure

To prepare an IFS Business Analytics Report using accounting structures:

  1. To design the layout of the report select Structure Repeater Items from the display items pane and drag them into the design area.
  2. Drag Account (the code part which is used as leaves in the accounting structure) and a Measure item into the design area below structure repeater items.
  3. Select the rows that you need to repeat. This will include rows that include both structure repeater items and Account.
  4. Click New Design Row.
  5. Drag a Structure Repeater item from the Display Items pane into the Display Items field.
  6. Drag the code part in to the next repeater row.
  7. Structure Details link will be visible just after dragging the relevant structure repeater item to the display item field.
  8. When you click on this link, Structure Details Window will appear.
  9. Now you can select the relevant Structure ID and Entry Point.
  10. Select a level and select the nodes you want to include in the report by clicking Criteria. The second repeater will automatically take the immediate level below the first repeater. This can be changed in the Select Node/Level dialog box if needed.
  11. Click Run.
  12. Compare the executed report with the design.
  13. To modify the design, select Go to Design.
  14. For the first structure repeater change the Leaves included drop down box to Only Attached to the Current Level. This will only show code parts which is directly attached to the Level of the first repeater.
  15. In the first structure repeater, select the Include Selected Node Only check box. This will filter the other information and only show the information related to the selected node.
  16. Click Run.
  17. Compare the executed report with the design.
  18. To modify the design, select Go to Design.
  19. Change the Leaves included drop down box to Only Attached to Levels Below and clear the Include Selected Node Only check box, to obtain information to the level below for all nodes selected for the level.
  20. Click Run.

Note: Parameters can be used to define the entry point for the report. This is done in the Parameter pane of Select Node/Level dialog box. To make this a possibility, a parameter for level or node needs to be defined in the report under the Parameter pane.
