Define Primary Classification

Explanation

This activity is used to create, modify and view primary classifications. Primary classifications are used to group classification schemes and to indicate whether a license is needed or not.

As a result of this activity:

• A primary classification ID is created.
• The classifications can be used to group classifications schemes.
• Indicates if a license is needed for an export control code connected to this classification.

Procedure

1. Open the Export Control Basic Data window.
2. Click the Primary Classification tab.
3. Select New (F5).
4. Enter a primary classification ID.
5. Enter a description.
6. Select the License Needed check box to indicate that a license is needed when using this code.
7. Optionally, enter a note, by double-clicking the Note field which will open a text phrase editor that enables the user to view the entire text and, to select predefined phrases as entered in the Document Text Administration/Phrases tab.
8. Enter a number in the List of Values order to specify the order that the record should appear in a List of Values. A blank or zero indicates that this record is blocked for further use.
9. Save the changes.
