Specify Scheduling Settings for Scheduling Server
Explanation
Use this activity to define the different default time frames and other
settings used by the Scheduling Server. You must also define how the scheduling
server should assign load to the different resources. This mandatory task is to
be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person.
By specifying a transport calendar you can exclude non-working days when calculating the transport time.
The transportation calendar takes effect only when shop order operations are
scheduled and when the preceding operation or operations have a defined
transportation time.
Prerequisites
There needs to be a valid connection between the Constraint Based Scheduling
(CBS) site and the Scheduling Server.
System Effects
As a result of this activity the values you specify are used by the
Scheduling Server to schedule operations.

Procedure
- Open the
Scheduling Basic Data window.
- Populate the window or query for the site.
- In the Site field, select the site for which to define the default values.
- Click the
Shop Order Scheduling/Scheduling
Server tab. In the Host and Port fields in the
Communication Settings area, specify the host (the IP address is
preferred over the host name) and port (usually four digits) to be used for
the Shop Order Scheduling Server.
- In the Scheduling Horizon (Days) field, enter the number of days the Scheduling Server
should use. This is the time period that will be
considered when constructing the schedule. Any operations that cannot be
included within this horizon will not be scheduled. The default value is 365.
The shorter the time frame the faster the scheduling process.
- In the Scheduling Startpoint (Hrs from Present Time) field,
enter a default start time for the first operation in
the schedule. This value is optional, with the default value of zero.
- In the Priority Adjustment Factor Weight field, enter a value to indicate
the weight used for prioritization of shop orders. The default value is 1.
- In the Transport Calendar field, enter the
calendar or select a suitable calendar from the List of Values. This
calendar will be used to calculate the scheduled transport time. When
scheduling a shop order operation, the scheduled transport time will be used.
Note: If you want to view the
transport
calendar, click Settings in the Scheduling Server and select Schedule Settings. The
Schedule Settings dialog box opens. To
view transport calendar details, double-click on the transport calendar
object. To get a graphical representation of the transport calendar, drag the
transport calendar object to the left of the Gantt chart.
To view the scheduled
transport time of a single shop order operation, right-click
on the shop order operation object and click Show. The
Operations
dialog box opens. Click the Show
Contents
tab.
- In the Sequencing Horizon (Days) field, enter number of days. This is the
value the system uses to specify default start and end dates in the
Sequencing Assistant. The default value is zero.
- In the Setup Optimization section, select one of the three options to
determine what factors the
scheduling server will use to optimize setup.
- In the
Scheduling
Server tab,
select the Extend Shop Order check box in the Action When Lot Size
is Modified on Shop Order area, if you want shop orders to be expanded or
contracted according to changes to their scheduled time requirement. This
will be done without changing the current start time of the modified shop orders.
Note: However in the following situations, the scheduled start time
is changed;
- If the expanded SO is scheduled in the past before expanding.
- If the expanded SO affects a promised SO and cannot be scheduled
before it.
- In the Action When Buffered Operation Reporting is Enabled area, select
the Adjust Schedule Due To Shop Floor Reporting check box if you want
the schedule to be adjusted to reflect time reported on shop order
operations. You can use the options under this check box to indicate how you
want the schedule to be updated.
- Prioritize Reported Operation - at the
next execution of buffered operations reporting, the reported operation
is given priority and scheduled as close as possible to now time.
- Keep Scheduled Operation Sequence - the
schedule will be updated according to shop floor reporting at the next
execution of buffered operations reporting, but without altering the
previous schedule sequence. Subsequent operations in the same order
structure will move closer to the reported operation in order to fill
any capacity gaps which occur immediately after the reported operation.
- Save the record.
