Define Loss Cause Groups

Explanation

Use this activity to define the loss cause groups that are to be used. When a new loss cause group is created, you need to choose its type,  i.e., whether its an Internal or External loss cause group. This loss cause group type is used to identify if the event is controlled by the production unit where the event occurred or due to external causes. An example of an internal loss cause group can be Mechanical Failure, while an external loss cause group can be Lack of Order.

A loss cause group can have several loss causes connected to it although a loss cause can only be connected to one loss cause group.

Different types of loss cause groups will have different effects on the APQ analysis of an equipment's performance:

Note: When performing an APQ analysis, you can choose to carry out calculations with or without events connected to an external loss cause group. All production rate graphs are calculated without events that are connected to an external loss cause group.
