IFS/Rough Cut Capacity Planning simulations have three different access settings:
The person who creates the simulation can never lose access to the simulation.
Based the access settings set for the simulation, the access rights for various users will differ.
Only the creator of the simulation has view and edit access to the simulation.
Simulation access groups are defined in the Simulation Access Groups window.
All persons in a simulation access group have view and edit access to the simulation.
Everybody can view and edit the simulation.
A simulation can be locked to prevent any changes to its data. This includes all data related to the simulation such as parts, part resource requirements, part forecasts, resources, resource capacity and sales contracts. Sales contract statuses are not related to a simulation and are therefore not affected.
When users attempt to save changed data for a locked simulation, an error is raised that the simulation is locked and cannot be updated.
The lock status is also checked when performing copy operations. It is not possible to perform these when the simulation is locked.
The ability to lock and unlock a simulation can be assigned to specific users. The users capable of changing the simulation lock setting can be controlled using a separate permission setting.
