Initial Exercises
Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is to
introduce you to the basic functionality in Employee Administration, which entails:

These Initial Exercises are intended for
instructor use.
If you are a student, it is extremely important
that you set up and work within your own company to maintain your
data integrity. If you work within any other company, you will
compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other
students. Predictable exercise results require that your data
be isolated in your own company. |
Enter New Employee
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create and administer employees.
Windows:
Employee
- View your own employee number (1002).
- Click the Positions tab, and verify that your position is valid.
- Click the Employment Periods tab, and verify that the employment is
active.
- Create one new employee, a production foreman, as follows:
- In the header portion of the window, press New, and enter 1501 in both the Emp No and Person ID fields.
- In the
Personal/Basics tab.
- Enter the first and last name.
- Save your changes.
- Do not connect your employee to an Application User. Select Cancel in the dialog box that appears after you save the record.
- Click the Employment/Employment Periods tab.
- Press New in the Row No field and select a value into the Employment Type
field in the General tab below.
- Click the Positions
tab.
- Connect the employee to a position by clicking the Position field
and selecting FORE-00 from the List of
Values.
- In the Valid From field, enter a date from the previous week.
- Enter the appropriate information in the other tabs.
- Now try to use the
New Employee to create a new
employee instead of doing so manually, as you did in step 4. Note that you cannot connect the
employee to all the data that is available in the
wizard. However, you can register the personal data, position assignment, and
employment period.
- After saving the employee records, populate the
Employee window. Can you access your employees?
Note: Access to employees is controlled by position.
