Competency Group

Note: Company Details.

  1. Open Groups and populate the window.
  2. Create a new record and register the competency groups Finance and Language, starting with your initials e.g., XX Finance.
  3. Save the information.

Competency Scale

  1. Open Scale and populate the window.
  2. Select the competency group XX Finance you entered in the previous exercise.
  3. Create a new record and define a four-level competency scale for the competency group. Enter these levels:
Competency Level Remark Competency Point
Elementary Basic knowledge 1
Competent Good knowledge 2
Specialist Very good knowledge 3
Expert Perfect knowledge 4
  1. Rank the scale with Elementary as the lowest level (=1) and Expert as the highest (=4). Try to change the ranking by changing the points. Then change it back.
  2. Save the information.
  3. Repeat the exercise, selecting your second competency group.

Note: You can copy competency levels from other competency groups, e.g., Language, which has already been defined using right-click.

Elements

  1. Open Elements and populate the window.
  2. Enter a new record and define three competency elements for each of your competency groups:

Competency Element Level

  1. Open Element Level and populate the window.
  2. Select competency group XX Language.
  3. Define the competency element levels for the competency element English. Enter the abilities according to the list below:
Competency Level Ability
Elementary Ability to communicate in familiar situations. Fairly good vocabulary.
Competent Ability to communicate in more or less complex situations. Good vocabulary.
Specialist Ability to communicate fluently. Excellent vocabulary.
Expert Ability to communicate as smoothly as a well-educated native.
  1. Save the information.
  2. Open Groups and populate the window.
  3. Select Language, right-click, and then click Elements. View the information.
  4. Repeat the procedure from step 5, but click Competency Scale. View the information.

Note: In the Relevant Training Course tab, you can define courses that support a specific competency level. These courses are defined in Training Administration.

Competency Distribution

  1. Open the Company Competency Group Assignment window.
  2. This window is used when there is more than one company. The competencies are defined in the master company, and in this window you distribute them to other companies.
