Setting Up VIM Template Structure Transfer—Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data needed to transfer serial template structure data from IFS/VIM to IFS/Manufacturing.

Entering MRO Site

If you haven't done so already, set up your site for MRO.

  1. Open the Site window and click New to create a new site.
  2. Enter XX90 as the site, where XX is replaced with your initials, and an appropriate site description.
  3. Specify 10 as the company, to create a site which belongs to that company.
  4. Enter the default manufacturing and distribution calendars in the Extended Site Info tab.
  5. Click on the Maintenance tab. In the Message Receiver field select the applicable message receiver from the List of Values.
  6. Click on the Manufacturing tab. Select VIM MRO Usage check box.
  7. Save the changes.

Connecting a Site to a User

If you haven't done so already, connect your site to user for your MRO site.

  1. Open the Sites per User window.
  2. Query for the user to which you are logged on by clicking your user in the User ID list.
  3. Create a new column line by clicking New.
  4. Select the new site from the List of Values and save.
  5. Set the site as your default site by selecting the line and right-clicking and then clicking Set as Default Site.
  6. Save the changes.

Entering Manufacturing Engineer

  1. Open the Manufacturing Standard Basic Data window.
  2. Click the Manufacturing Engineer tab.
  3. Select Engineer from the List of Values.
  4. Optionally, select the Blocked for Use check box to block the manufacturing engineer from further use.

Note: If you block a manufacturing engineer that is specified as the default value in the Engineering Transfer Site Role tab, a dialog box appears when you select the Blocked for Use check box. Specify a different manufacturing engineer to update the default manufacturing engineer for engineering transfers for all sites whose current default value is the one you blocked.

  1. Save your changes.

Entering Engineering Transfer Site Role

  1. Open the Manufacturing Standard Basic Data window.
  2. Click the Engineering Transfer Site Role tab.
  3. Enter your site, planner, and manufacturing engineer.
  4. Save the changes.

Entering Part Transfer Template

  1. Open the Part Transfer Template window.
  2. Create new template XXMRO according to the information in the table below. where XX is replaced with your initials.
  3. Save the changes.

  1. Open the Manufacturing Standard Basic Data window.
  2. Click the Default Part Template tab.
  3. Enter your site XX90, part type, template type and part template ID according to the information in the table below. 
    XX is replaced with your initials.
