Define Object Availability Exceptions
Explanation
This activity is used to define availability
exceptions for equipment objects. Exceptions to an availability can be limited
coverage periods, extended coverage periods or shut-downs.
Extended Coverage - Could be for instance
extending the shop opening hours in the run up to Christmas.
Limited Coverage - Could be for instance during
limiting the shop opening hours on Public Holidays.
Shut Down - Could be for instance works where certain assets will be completely unavailable due to operational
requirements such no access
to the facilities for maintenance is permitted.
Another example could be that assets are available but will not be used due to a
lack of operational requirements.
Prerequisites
- An availability line must have been defined in Availability
tab in Functional Object/Serial Object window.
System Effects
As a result of this activity,
availability
exceptions are defined for an availability which is
connected to an equipment object.

Procedure
- Open the Functional Object or Serial Object window and click the
Scheduling tab.
- Click the Object Availability tab.
- Right click on an existing availability line and go to Availability
Details
- Click the Exceptions tab.
- Create a new record (F5).
- In the Start Time field, enter the start date/time of the
exception.
- In the End Time field, enter the end date/time of the exception.
- If this Available check box is selected, the time period is
considered
available. If not selected, then the time period is considered unavailable.
- For the Location Override field, use the drop down to select
a valid value. It determines whether the availability of the work order
should override the availability of the location.
- For the Start Based field, use the drop down to select a valid
value. It determines whether the work has to be completed within the
availability window or whether it only needs to be started within the
availability window.
- In the Information field, enter information about the exception.
- Save the information (F12).
Use the following procedure to generate availability exceptions for the
object:
- Open the Functional Object or Serial Object window and click the
Scheduling tab.
- Click the Object Availability tab.
- Right click on an existing availability line and go to Availability

- Click the Exceptions tab.
- Right-click, then click Generate
Recurrence...
- In the Start Time field, enter the Start Time of the Availability
Exception. Entering a
value in this field is mandatory.
- In the End Time field, enter the End Time of the Availability
Exception. Entering a
value in this field is mandatory.
- In the Start Based dropdown define whether the Availability
defined should be Start Based or not. The Start Based setting determines
whether the work has to be completed within the availability window or
whether it only needs to be started within the availability window.
- In the Location Override field, use the drop down to select
a valid value. It determines whether the availability of the work order
should override the availability of the location.
- In the Available checkbox enter whether the Time interval entered
should be considered Available or Unavailable for the Location.
- In the Information field, enter details of the Availability
Exception. Entering information in this field is optional.
- In the Recurrence Pattern select the week days that the
Availability Exceptions should be generated for.
- In the Start field, enter the Start Date of the Availability
Exception. Entering a
value in this field is mandatory.
- In the End field, enter the End Date of the Availability
Exception. Entering a
value in this field is mandatory.
- Click the Ok button to generate the Availability Exceptions
- Save the information (F12).
