This roadmap contains general technical information and guidelines on how to make an installation of IFS Applications as well as component specific installations (gathered from component release notes).
Note: IFS Applications 9 only supports direct upgrades from IFS Applications 7 or later. Upgrades from earlier versions must be done in two steps.
This section describes important information that the installation project should be aware of before the installation starts. It is recommended to follow the links in order to get more information regarding each specific issue.
Make sure you only use software certificated by the Product Certification team. Certified Oracle version, Client Operations Systems etc can be found on the Supported Platforms (IFS internal) pages.
Depending on products to be installed, existing data volumes and number of licensed users, it is important size the hardware correctly. Read more on the Benchmarking pages, where sizing guides and other useful information is provided.
Regarding functional news and other useful information, please refer to the Product Release Notes in each Product. They are also posted here.
A number of Components have been made obsolete in IFS Applications 9.
A number of Database Objects and table columns have been made obsolete in IFS Applications 9. The following pages provide more detailed information,
How to handle invalid database objects after upgrade or patching.
Some objects and methods are marked as deprecated during IFS Applications 9 Support phase, i.e. usage of these methods should be replaced by valid replacement method. These deprecated methods will be made obsolete in next core version of IFS Applications. More information can be found in the following document,

Note:
a. If you are running a byte database (non-Unicode) today, you need to convert to Unicode database before you run the IFS upgrade.
b. If you are upgrading to Oracle 12.1.0.2 version, as a solution for the Oracle
limitation 'Dynamic Sampling used even with 100% table statistics available', it
is recommended to apply the solution 1 (only the Oracle system parameter
configuration) in
Oracle Document 2237208.1 after you run the upgrade.
There are a lot of product specific considerations.
