Export Position Structure to Organization Chart

Explanation

This activity is used to export the position structure defined in the Graphical Position Structure window. The position structure information contained in the exported file (text file) can be used by third party tools such as MS Visio in order to create organization charts.

Prerequisites

In order to perform this activity, a position structure has be defined in the Graphical Position Structure window.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, an export file (text file) will be created in the location you specify.

Procedure

To export a position structure to an organization chart;

  1. Open the Graphical Position Structure window. The system date will show in the Date field by default. In the left pane of the Position Structure tab, positions are displayed as a graphical object structure valid on the date specified.
  2. If you want to generate the structure from a different date, change the date in the Date field, right-click the header and click Generate. The position structure will be generated for the given date.
  3. Click on a position which should be the root position of the structure you want to export.
  4. Right-click the position, and click Export Structure to open the Export Structure dialog box.
  5. In the Selection Date field, the date used to generate the position structure displays as the date on which the position structure is exported.
  6. The position you selected as the root position of the organization chart displays in the Root Position field.
    Note: The organization chart will be drawn by using the root position as the starting point.
  7. In the File Path field, enter the path where the exported file should be saved. Click Browse to select a path.
  8. Click OK to export the position structure.
